Crazy Mountain Cutting Horses
Crazy Mountain Cutting Horses was organized 3
years ago, located at the CW Bar Ranch 16 miles
northeast of Big Timber, Montana. Jeremy Young is
the resident trainer.
Jeremy has been training horses for 16 years. He
has trained and shown cutting horses with Crazy
Mountain Cutting Horses since its inception.
Crazy Mountain Cutting Horses operates a small
breeding program. Linda Holmes has been influential
in the breeding program and purchasing of young
prospects. The favorite bloodline so far has been
colts by Metallic Cat and Dual Rey mares, very cow
smart and trainable.
Jeremy grew up on a cattle and horse ranch
outside of Fishtail, Montana, and has always enjoyed
working cow’s horseback. The interest continued to
grow as he went to a few cuttings and found a great
appreciation for the level of training cutting
horses must possess in order to compete. His
Grandparents were in the Quarter horse business for
50+ years breeding, raising and selling quality
Plays With Class, known as Classy, was the first
cutting horse Jeremy showed. He competed at the Big
Sky Aged Event in Kalispell, Montana. Jeremy credits
the experience as a great learning opportunity and
eye opener for what it truly takes to train a
cutting horse. Classy is now a very successful youth
rodeo horse for good friends of Jeremy’s.
Jeremy currently has two 4 year olds and two 3
year olds in training and would like to put all four
horses into as many aged event finals as possible.
Jeremy’s goal for Crazy Mountain Cutting Horses in
2016 is to win a futurity and a Derby class this
In the cutting pen, Jeremy says he is truly
inspired by Mr. Bill Riddle. He said it has been a
huge blessing to get to know and work with Mr.
Riddle the past couple of years, “an exceptional
teacher and master horseman”.
Outside of the cutting pen, Jeremy’s family
enjoys a lot of camping and fishing in the summer
and hunting together in the fall, “As my boys grow
we also spend a lot of time at football games,
basketball tournaments, and this year track meets”.
Jeremy says he is truly blessed with amazing
supportive family and wonderful opportunity to do
what he loves, “I have to thank God for his love,
his forgiveness and blessings every day”.
Crazy Mountain Cutting Horses is accepting a
limited number of outside horses this year for
training, with preference given to 2 year olds or
limited aged event horses.
Good luck to Jeremy and Crazy Mountain Cutting
Horses this year in the cutting pen, and thank you
